It's Not Just LOVE, Its A LEGACY
Allow me to first express how grateful I am to serve as the newly elected Chairperson of the National Love-Cook Executive Committee. Please know that I fully embrace this opportunity to help lead our family using the principles of Faith, Hope, and Love that we all live by. With that said, I am writing to inform everyone of a matter that deserves our collective attention and commitment to resolve. We currently find ourselves in a considerable financial deficit following the reunion in Richmond, Virginia.
The local committee put their hearts and souls into planning an event that we all could boast about sharing great fellowship in the very place that our ancestors launched the Love-Cook heritage. The committee made preparations for a large gathering of Love’s and Cook’s to reunite both sides of the family. However, we did not achieve the contractual obligation for number of room nights purchased by attending family members. There were also commitments made for family social activities outside the hotel that resulted in more costs that we didn’t have numbers to support. Consequently, we are in need of additional financial donations from the family.
Despite finding ourselves in this situation, I am certain we as family will come together in Faith, Hope, Love (and Unity!) to take care of this matter. Having said that, we realize everyone may not be able to donate. For those who can, these donations would be above and beyond the usual family reunion dues and any contributions/pledges made towards our scholarship fund. Here is what we are asking you to do to help:
1) Commit to making one of the following suggested contribution levels: $50, $100, $250, $500, or “other” amount;
2) Email the Financial Secretary, Angela Wims at angela.wims@iname.com to indicate the amount you will contribute and when;
3) Submit your donation via the family reunion webpage at
https://lovecookfamily.com/special-donation, OR mail check/money order to the National Love-Cook Executive Committee Financial Secretary, Angela Love Wims at 7902 Alta Court, Lithia Springs, GA 30122. Make check payable to the Love-Cook Family Reunion and mail no later than
November 13th.
It is important to emphasize addressing this matter as soon as possible to take care of the outstanding balance with the hotel and to reimburse those on the host committee who used personal funds to secure items and/or services for social activities. I would also like to point out the importance of family members attending the reunions to ensure we can continue to have excellent accommodations and activities that are fully funded and enjoyable for all.
In closing, I want to thank all of you in advance for your understanding and showing family strength and unity in this time of need. We do not take your kindness and generosity for granted. The power of love is unquestionable and we thank God for all He has done to demonstrate His love for us every day. Let us declare that we CAN DO all things through Christ Jesus!
